On Saturday April 27 there will be a red cross disaster drill. ARES
participation has been requested  and EC’s for the counties need make
arrangements to provide the services requested.  Below is the letter for
the Red Cross drill. Counties involved are: Allegheny, Clarion,
Clearfield, Greene, Indiana, Mercer, Washington and Westmoreland.


           Gentlemen, thank you for your participation in the Red Cross
Region-wide shelter exercise on Saturday, April 27. One of the main
objectives is to assess communications capabilities between our
Shelter, Chapter and Region office locations. There are nine shelter
sites that will be activated (see list below) along with five Chapter
offices and the Region office in Pittsburgh. In order to effectively
assess communications it will be necessary to have at least one
operator in each location (15 operators). This information is being
provided to you so that you can begin recruiting personnel. If you
anticipate any problems obtaining the required number of operators, or
if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via e-mail at
the address below.

          Shelter Sitesi. Allegheny County: Heidelberg VFD & Braddock
(Salvation Army bldg), ii. Clarion County: Zion Church, Clarion
Borough, iii. Clearfield County: DuBois Area Middle School, iv. Greene
County: Carmichaels Community Center, v. Indiana County: Church of the
Nazarene, Homer City, vi. Mercer County: First Assembly of God,
Hermitage, vii. Washington County: Ringgold High School, Monongahela,
viii. Westmoreland County: Greensburg Salem HS, Greensburg

      Chapter Offices (still need location for 2 other offices): i.
Pittsburgh, ii. Johnstown, iii. Greensburg, iv. Sharpsville (Mercer

     DEC’s and EC should make sure the needs are covered for the
drill. This is part of the functions we served directed by our MOU with
the served agency.
     
       On Sunday the 28 there will be a hamfest sponsored by Two Rivers

       June 15 is the date for the ARES EMMCOMM conference to be held at
